We Thank our client community for lovely recognition since 2015
Walking in from the outside you might not believe that you're embarking on a journey through India. We were greeted enthusiastically by the owner who explained the concept of this lovely restaurant to us; Showing another side of Indian cuisine.
Our 5 course dinner started off taking us from north to south. Delishes street food from Mumbai, Dosa's with amazing chutney. A symphony of flavors dancing in our mouths after a mouthwatering curry.
We enjoyed the story telling behind all these dishes greatly. It really sent us in that journey.
All in all, an experience to enjoy, to awaken the taste buds, delightful taste explosions, a joyful culinary journey through India.- Review by Marloes O. on TheFork reservation platform on 3rd Sept 2019
This restaurant should have a Michelin star! The food was delicious, they use interesting spices that don't make it hot /spicey that you can't taste it but just perfectly balanced. There is some theater, that sizzling brownie was amazing and the owner tells some interesting things about each course. We had the 5 course tasting menu plus the brownie ???? You can also take a shot paring which goes perfectly with the Indian spices.

Geweldige ervaring! Verrassend en verfrissend concept: soort theater-achtig gerechtentoer door India. Veel kennis, goede hapjes, zeer fijne ambiance!

I totally love this place 😍 We were with 6 ladies for my birthday and enjoyed the very warm hospitality of Umang. We all had the 10 course menu and got a nice explanation of the origin everytime Umang and his wife came to our table to serve the food. I recommend this place to everybody who wants to enjoy Indian cuisine. Food, price and hospitality I give all 10/10. Only thing that could be better is I would have liked a more Indian vibe in the restaurant by decoration and music. It’s now a bit too modern and western according to my taste. Still hope to come back quickly. Thanks for a great night guys

Being a South Indian I can say the sambar is proper South Indian taste served with Dosa, Food quality 10/10, food authenticity 10/10, taste 10/10, value for money 10/10, and if you are there then don’t forget to try the sizzling Brownie.......

World wide Business Review 2018
Hello Umang Jani
I hope my email finds you well.
I am getting in touch today to advise you that Sugar and Spice Bites has been selected for inclusion in Worldwide Business Review Magazine’s 2018 Most Innovative Businesses in the Netherlands, with the exclusive title of:
Haarlem's Most Outstanding Indian Restaurant, 2018
Worldwide Business Review is looking to commend the truly outstanding Dutch businesses that are trail-blazing, developing, and growing in their sector. As such we launched the “Most Innovative Businesses” program to recognise those that are going above and beyond, but perhaps rarely receive the recognition they deserve. Like last year, we recognised 50 firms in total, in sectors such as; law, finance, retail, energy, recreation/leisure, and construction. As this is a merit-based program, rather than utilising a more traditional nomination/voting platform, we have been able to recognise companies of all sizes, and in all locations, regardless of prominence in their area of business.

The press release also mentioned that The Netherlands Enterprise Awards 2017 are designed to celebrate the talent that has provided some of the best products and services in one of the most influential business regions of Europe.
Discussing the awards, Sophie Milner, Awards Coordinator, stated: “The awards are an opportunity to celebrate the very best that the Netherlands’ business market has to offer and to acknowledge the accomplishments made by the individuals responsible for their thriving industry. Congratulations and best wishes to all of my deserving winners.”Thank you tripadvisor for this recognition.
Home away from home!!!! Best ever Indian food overseas!!

We arrived late at our hotel and it was about 9:30 pm when we called Sugar and Spice Bites asking if there was a chance for us to have dinner as it was closing time and the owner Mr. Umang Ji was more than accomodating and was willing to wait until we arrived. We did not have our own transport as we are visiting but he was amazingly helpful. Upon our arrival he and his wife, Chef Jalapa Ji welcomed us with a smile and comforted us! We placed our order and the food was delicious!! We are based in Australia and it’s been a few years since we’ve been to India but the food at Sugar and Spice Bites reminded us of the authentic Mumbai food. We had vada pav, pav bhaji, naan, sizzle sabji, butter chicken and wrapped up with desserts - kulfi, gulab jamun and brownie sizzler! It was a great experience for us to taste such lovely food. The ambience, the cleanliness of the restaurant makes you feel at home. Both Umang Ji and Jalpa Ji inspite of being tired as they had a long, busy evening were very warm and made us feel extremely comfortable. We wish Umang Ji and Jalpa Ji good luck for all their future endeavours and would recommend anyone who wishes to taste authentic Indian food to visit this restaurant. Indian food is far more than just a curry and rice which Sugar and Spice Bites has proven! Many thanks,
